Healthier Super Bowl Snacks that Will Please Every Tailgater

The NFL regular season is over, the playoffs are here and that means it is time for some great football parties, leading up of course to one of the biggest party days of the year – Super Bowl Sunday!

The staple of any great Super Bowl Sunday party is the food and drink. Unfortunately, traditional Super Bowl party fare does tend to be pretty unhealthy and certainly loaded with calories. And while you do not totally have to forego the customary wings and pizza there are also some delicious, but slightly healthier snacks you can add to your tailgating menu (even if the tailgate is in your living room) that should still please the crowd:

3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 1/2 pounds chicken wings, tips trimmed

How It’s Done

Combine the vodka, olive oil, lemon juice sugar and salt and pepper in a large bowl or generously sized Ziploc bag. Add the chicken wings and mix well to coat. Cover bowl/seal bag and place in your refrigerator to marinate for at least two to four hours.

Once the wings are well soaked line a baking pan with tinfoil and arrange the chicken wings on it. Pour the marinade over the wings and bake for about an hour, or until the meat is well browned, at 400F.
